F.A.Q

Q1. What is Visidon AppLock?
It's an Android app that's main purpose is to lock other apps with face recognition. The paid (Plus) version also offers an experimental device lock.

Q2. Where can I get this app?

The free version is available in the Android Market and in the Samsung Apps. The Plus version is only available from the Android Market for now. Be sure to get them only from these locations, since there are unofficial versions distributed around the web, that do not work correctly.

Q3. What are the system requirements?
Android device that runs at least Gingerbread and for the face recognition feature the device needs to have front facing camera. The free version can be quite a memory hog, because of the ads, so some devices that restrict memory usage too much can have problems with it.

Q4. What are the differences between the Plus and the normal versions?

The Plus version has all the stuff (except ads ofcourse) that free version has and these additional features:
  • Pattern and PIN as alternative unlocking methods.
  • Haptic feedback for alternative unlocking methods.
  • Experimental lockscreen feature.
  • External control from automation apps like Tasker, Locale, EasyProfiles, Llama etc.

Q5. How this app should be used?
First you'll need to set alternative unlocking method, which will act as back up if the face recognition does not work for some reason. You should write the password/pattern/PIN down, because you cannot get it back. Then you can go to face training and train yourself to the system. After that go to the Apps tab and check the apps that you want to protect. There are some apps protected by default like settings, task manager and market, since these apps could be used to bypass Visidon AppLock's protection. Next you can enable the locking service and you are good to go. Now if you try to access a protected app, face recognition screen should pop up.

There are numerous other settings that you can play around with after you have completed these basic instructions. Be sure to read all the usage instruction dialogs, that pop up, since they contain valuable information. You can also find more information from this F.A.Q and other notes in this page.

If you have Visidon AppLock Plus and you would like to use it as an device lock, be sure to read this.

Q6. The app does not recognize me / The app recognizes other people as me! What should I do?
First you should make sure that you have trained the system correctly. See our training guide for more info. Note also that there is a security level setting, that you can use to control how secure the recognition is. Also, if you are using liveness detection, you should also read this.

Q7. The Plus version does not work / The free version worked better than the Plus version! WTF!?
Firstly, make sure that you have gotten the official version from the Android Market. Illegal copies do not work. Secondly, the Plus version works exactly the same as the free version as long as the settings are the same and they have been trained similarly.

Q8. Liveness detection does not seem to work. What should I do?
It works, but it might need some effort to get it working. See this for more information.

Q9. Lockscreen does not work. What should I do?
The lockscreen feature has many problems. Read more from here.

Q10. Could you implement amazing feature x?
We might. Please first read this. Also, check the AppLock's settings tab carefully to see that the feature isn't already there. If you have some original suggestion, feel free to send us email about it.

Q11. How can I delete this app?
Remember to disable the admin rights before uninstalling and it should be removed normally.

Q12. Update broke the app! What should I do?

You'll need to clear the app data, because it is probably corrupted. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Q13. Why the app asks for face recognition and then alternative lock?
That means that I didn't recognize you or detect liveness in time. Make sure that you have trained the system properly and you are using liveness detection correctly.
